Xavi: “Oh, hey there, good lookin’! Thanks for visiting our donation page. As most of you know, I’m a big advocate of both human rights, including women’s rights, and a proud beneficiary—along with Augi—of a successful childbirth, thanks to modern medicine. With all of that in mind, for my birthday, rather than get presents, I have asked Mum to set up this donation page.
Sam: “You see, while we love gifts, we are lucky enough to have everything we need. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for more than one million women who suffer from obstetric fistula. Fistula is a devastating childbirth injury that leaves a woman incontinent, humiliated, and—all too often—shunned by her community. And the worst part is, all of this suffering usually follows the loss of a baby during childbirth.
“In short, fistula is f*****. No woman should lose a child, let alone spend the rest of her life suffering from the birth that killed her baby. So, please, if you were planning to buy us a book, or a toy, or a bottle of bubbly, instead put that money toward this incredible cause.”
Xavi: “Mum said the F-word, and while we do encourage charitable giving in our household, we don’t encourage swearing. She must not be f****** around.”
