Each Week, a Life Changed

Albert Malvino, supporter Not many people can say that they change a life on a weekly basis. We know one person who can: new donor Dr. Albert Malvino. He has committed to funding one life-changing fistula surgery every week through our Love A Sister program. More than 10 women have already been healed because of his generosity.

“Fistula is one of the worst medical conditions I have ever heard of,” he explained. “Compassion for another human being in such a miserable state is a given.”

Dr. Malvino first heard about obstetric fistula while he was living overseas in Ireland. There, he and his wife met a fistula surgeon, who told them about the terrible childbirth injury. He discovered Fistula Foundation online, and carefully researched our work before becoming a donor.

Dr. Malvino’s commitment to funding fistula surgeries is steadfast. “I have five daughters,” he says. When I consider how I would feel if one of them had a fistula, I cannot stand by and not help.”

His generosity has inspired our entire team at Fistula Foundation. On behalf of the women we serve, Albert—thank you for being a fistula champion!
