Lindsey Pollaczek

Lindsey Pollaczek joined Fistula Foundation in 2014.  She directs the Foundation’s program activity. Amongst her accomplishments is leading the successful Fistula Foundation Action on Fistula program in Kenya, and launching a countrywide program in Zambia. Both programs coordinate delivery of the fistula surgery training program and the development of a Fistula Treatment Network and outreach programs. Prior to joining Fistula Foundation, Lindsey had worked with Direct Relief since 2006, overseeing the organization’s Maternal and Child Health initiatives and partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa. In that role, Lindsey focused on improving access to essential health services for women and children, particularly the right to a safe pregnancy and delivery, and treatment for women that have suffered obstetric fistula. Lindsey established the organization’s Fistula Repair Program, which has grown from support for one hospital in 2008 to 21 hospitals in 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia in 2013. Lindsey also managed two of the organization’s largest global distribution programs in partnership with pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Abbott which have provided over 20 million rapid HIV tests for pregnant women and medicines valued at over $1 billion to help people living with HIV/AIDS fight life-threatening fungal infections in over 60 countries.

Lindsey earned her BA in Global and International Studies at The University of California, Santa Barbara, and her Master’s in Public Health (MPH) in Community Health Sciences at The University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining Direct Relief, Lindsey worked at the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinic, where she oversaw a program providing nutrition education and health information to support low-income Latino families.
