The feature-length documentary A Walk
to Beautiful just won Best Feature-length Documentary
at the International Documentary Association Awards Ceremony
on December 7th 2007. The film premiered at the San Francisco
Film Festival on May 5, 2007 where it won the coveted "Audience
Award". Since then it has screened at numerous film
festivals including: SilverDocs in Washington DC, Grand Performances
in Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival,
Docupolis International Documentary Festival in Barcelona,
Spain, The Women Deliver Conference in London, England. It
also screened at the Melbourne Human Rights Arts and Film
Festival in November, and at additional festivals internationally
and domestically. In addition, the film is set to air on
the award winning PBS show NOVA on May 13, 2008.
The film was produced by Engel Entertainment
in New York, who shot over 120 hours of film during three
separate trips to Ethiopia. It documents the plight of
fistula sufferers and the inspiring journey of five women
as they move from devastation and despair to restored health.
