This card tells the story of Aisha, a 40-year-old mother from Uganda whose life was transformed by free fistula surgery. Despite enduring a prolonged, obstructed labor that left her with obstetric fistula, Aisha did not lose her baby, and she did not suffer for long. She was quickly connected to care by our partner Terrewode. “I thank you because I have only had my baby a month ago and I have already gotten the treatment,” said Aisha. “There are some women who are yet to get treatment and they have waited many years.” Pictured here with Dr. Aono, the surgeon who helped heal her, Aisha has a bright and healthy future in front of her—thanks to compassionate donors like you.
