Committing to Love a Sister
Virginia and Roger Perry (not pictured) are dedicated supporters of our Love a Sister program, which channels donations to fund surgeries for women in need. Their commitment started in 2004, when Virginia first learned about women who suffer from fistula. Hearing stories about fistula patients resonated with her in part because of her own childbirth experiences.
“I experienced a burst bladder when my second child was born,” she said. “He was over 10 pounds at birth!” After receiving proper care at a hospital, she was able to return home, fully healed and with her newborn in her arms. Learning about women who face barriers to high-quality treatment compelled her to help them. She and her husband, Roger, soon made a commitment to helping as many women as possible.
Today, Virginia and Roger fund two surgeries each month. Over the past two decades, they have supported more than 150 surgeries for women like Deega (pictured above, right, with her aunt, Istaahil). “I am confident that giving to Fistula Foundation on a monthly basis is changing the lives of women in a very positive way,” said Virginia. “We thank the Lord for allowing us to support the Love a Sister fund.”
Support for Sisterhood
Through Love a Sister, you can directly support life-transforming surgeries for women in need. A gift of $619, or about $52 per month for a year, will cover the average cost of repair surgery for a woman who suffers from a devastating childbirth injury.
Over the past two decades, supporters have given more than $10 million to the fund, enabling thousands of life-changing surgeries across the globe. Sisterhood is for life!
